PCA E-Mail
- How it works
|
For PCA Member's Use only:
This is a description of how the new e-mail associated with PeachtreeClownAlley.com
works:
The WebMaster has assigned to you a UserName, a (temporary) password,
and how your e-mail will appear. You will use these to access your mail.
Upper and / or Lower case:
- Your UserName and password ARE case sensitive,
so be careful about when you use them to log-in to the mail system,
or setting up Outlook or Eudora or whatever mail program you intend
to use.
- Your e-mail addresses are case Insensitive,
so you can have it all lowercase, all upper case, or however you wish.
The e-mail computers don't care. The only restriction is that it can
only be letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores.
Using the e-mail address:
- You access it either directly from the web (like you do to get your
Yahoo.com or Hotmail.com mail), and/or you can configure your Outlook
or Eudora mail programs to directly get & send mail. If you set
up Eudora or Outlook, you can still go directly to the mail web page
any time you wish.
- Remember that whenever you have to give your UserName and your password,
they are CASE Sensitive.
- To access it from the web, go to http://webmail.powweb.com
(click on this link and it will open a new window), follow the instructions
on screen and log in using your Username (NOT your e-mail name) and your
password. You will go to a web page where you can read the mail you have
received, and reply to them, and send out new mail using that address.
I suggest you bookmark (Netscape users) or, save
to your Favorites folder (MS Internet Explorer users), the above Internet
address for future use.
- To see tutorials on how to set up your Eudora or Outlook, click
on: E-Mail-Tutorials
(and it will open a new window showing an info page by our web hosting
site), look at the Mail: section and select which e-mail program
you will be configuring. You will see a walk-through on how to set
up your program: If you have any trouble, e-mail the WebMaster and
we will help you work it out.
- Any time you have logged into the webmail page, you may change your
password to what ever you wish. If you ever forget the password, e-mail
the WebMaster and we will assign you a new one. Be assured, as is typical
for webmasters, we are unable to learn your current password, just override
it with a new one.
Here is some info about your PCA
e-mail name:
ATTACHMENTS:
- You can send or receive file attachments up to 5 Mb or 5,000 kb (this
is extremely large, most photos are 30 to 150 kb, so you could
receive one attachment of about 30 pictures and not exceed this).
- We would STRONGLY suggest that you keep attachments down to 1 or at
most 2 Mb as most other e-mail services don't allow such large attachments.
- I have been told that mail sent to / from AOL need to be even
smaller.
- Your mail box can hold a total of 10 Mb of mail before you have to
start erasing stuff or the mail system will start refusing to receive
mail.
ALIASES:
- An e-mail alias is a separate e-mail address, that goes to the same
mail box.
- It is like having multiple snail-mail letters, addressed to different
people, all delivered to a single street-side mail box.. They end
up all in the same heap, but they have different addresses on them.
- Once you have a primary e-mail address, you can ask the WebMaster
to give you additional e-mail aliases.
- They are FREE and you can have as many as you want.
- You can choose whatever name you wish, (letters, numbers, hyphens
and underscores only), but you can use any name you wish as long
as it hasn't been already taken by another PCA e-mail user.
- The other e-mail messages will all be funneled into your primary
mail box, to be either read there via the webmail access by browser,
or read from your Outlook or Eudora.
- Why do this: Here are a few examples:
- If you work under two different clown names, then have set up:
"YourName@PeachtreeClownAlley.com",
and then have an alias of "YourOtherName@PeachtreeClownAlley.com".
All e-mail to both addresses will go to the same place, but will
be identifiable by the address lines in the mail.
- If you have a client (Fun Parties Inc.) who hires you often.
You could give them their own alias of you to use so you would immediately
know it's from them. Add the alias: "YourName_FunPartiesInc@PeachtreeClownAlley.com".
All e-mail to both addresses will go to the same place, but will
be identifiable by the address lines in the mail. If you use Outlook
or Eudora, that could be especially nice as you could filter this
mail into their own e-mail folders, automatically.
E-Mail Forwarding:
- We can set up your PCA e-mail address to forward all mail receive
to any one of your other (non-PCA) e-mail address.
- Example: Have mail sent to YourName@PeachtreeClownAlley.com automatically
forwarded to whatever e-mail address you are currently using.
